The new Governor of the Rotary District 1990, Peter Pfister, took the leadership from now Past District Governor Charles Zaugg at the Olympic Museum in Lausanne. Participating at the event were the incoming Presidents of the 72 clubs located in 7 Swiss Cantons and other members of the Rotary leadership.
The Keynote speaker was Denis Oswald, Member of the International Olympic Committee, Head of the co-ordination commission for the 2012 Olympic Games in London. In his speech, he compared athletes "serving" their sport to Rotarian whose motto is to serve by engaging themselves in various charity events. DG Peter Pfister outlined his program for the up-coming year : Reach within to Embrace Humanity
